冬瓜罗汉果糖水 WinterMelon and Luo Hon Guo Sweet Soup


Once a while have to cook some sweet soup for cooling our body heat.
Luo Hon Guo (罗汉果)is good for cooling the body heat.
Love the fragrant smell and the sweet itself.
I didn't add any sugar in this soup. 
It come naturally from the Luo Hon Guo and the dry longan.

红煼炒肉片 Fermented Red Rice with Pork Sliced


Fermented Red Rice ----- is Fuzhou (福州) people made this.
In my place here are difficult to find this, only in one restaurant have this.
I eat the fermented red rice chicken there, and i love that.
I ask to the restaurant owner when can i buy this fermented red rice.
She smile and tell me that she have, and sell here.
Oh... good, i want to buy.

阿叁花枝 Fried Squid with Tamarind


Sotong Goreng Assam ----- Nyonya style cooking.
I saw this in the book "Truly Nyonya Malacca".
I like assam cooking with all kind of food.
Very appetizing and delicious.

鱼丸米粉汤 Meehoon Fish Ball Soup



This is a simple and good lunch for the two kids.
They love fish ball and anchovies, so put in these and cook a soup for them.

自制水饺 Homemade Dumpling

 

I went to the market this morning and buy one packet of dumpling skin.
After home i have no idea on what to do with this.
I have no idea on what to cook for the dinner.

This is really simple, and i am just using salt and sugar for the seasoning.

班兰咖呀蒸包 Pandan Kaya Steamed Pao


My son request for steamed pao with cha siew today.
But i dont want to cook cha siew and think for another filling.
i have buy a glass of kaya, and still in the fridge.
What if i use this for steamed pao???

沙葛瘦肉汤 Yam Bean with Lean Pork Soup


Have you ever cooking a yam bean soup?
Ya, it is yam bean, 沙葛, mengkuang.
I am first time use this for soup, and this soup was so sweet and refreshing.
According to the Book "Best Soup" this soup will help to quench thirst, 
stimulate saliva and detox the body after taking too much wine. 
So for the people who drink wine, this is really good.

And now is my turn, although it is a bit late, 
but i still can taste this. ha...... 

双色番薯糖水 Sweet Potato Sweet Soup


Quick a time i haven't have this.
I use two type of sweet potato, white and yellow.
And yes, this is so delicious, with taste some ginger hot.
And palm sugar for the sweet soup. yummy.......

双鱿炒酱油 Stir-fried Squid and Cuttlefish in Black Soy Sauce


Squid and cuttlefish.
Combined together and cook with dry chilli and black soy sauce.

豆酱炒长豆 Stir-fried Long Bean with Soy Bean Paste


Just simpe sitr-fried with bean paste and it is already delicious.
Love the crunchy from the bean and salty from the bean paste.
Who love chilli sure can put in some chilli.
i have kids eating with me so sure is pure one.

娘惹黄姜鸡 Nyonya Turmeric Chicken


This is a Nyonya style dish that i found from the book "Truly Nyonya Malacca"
And its call "Ayam Kunyit" in malay.
I was attracted by the photo from the book.
It looks very delicious and its simple and easy to cook this.
Ha... Ha... especially when you are rushing time.
And yet it is fragrant and delicious.

This week i was very busy busy busy.
I have to post my cook when i have time now 
and i have no time to visit my bloggers friend this few day.
Sometimes i just feel that one day 24 hours is not enough for me.

佛錛鸡丁 Diced Chicken in Taro Bowl


Today i went to the market and see got beautiful taro. Buy one just want to try making this taro bowl.
My hubby love this very much. But i am so careless today.
I use half ingredients of the recipe, but when i pour in the water,
i forget to reduce into half and just pour in.
When i have just added all the ingredients inside then i realized it.
Am i so careless? Hai......
But luckily it still can be eaten. The problem is that i cant shape it.

香兰千层蛋糕 Pandan Layer Cake


 A simple cake for celebrate my son "Cheng" birthday with my family.
Make this pandan layer cake. 
They all like this, my dad and mum like this.
Suitable for this hot hot weather. Yummy....
But the color is a bit pale, if added few drops of green color will be more beautiful.

Fish again! Ya, have fish again. 
This time cooking with "Threadfin" or in malay "Ikan Senangin".
My two kids eat much of this fish, they like this dish.
May be is quite a long time i not buying this kind of fish,
or because they like onion.
My kids like onion very much.

Last two days i went to the wet market to buy some vegetable 
and when i pass by a fish stall, the fish stall uncle ask me to buy fish.
He say got very very fresh grouper fish just come.
I choose one 700 g and cost me RM 14.00.

桂圆莲子红枣雪耳糖水 Longan Lotus & White Fungus Sweet Soup


This is my two sons favorite. 
Every times when we are going to the chinese kopitiam have our breakfast or lunch,
they must request this sweet soup. 
This afternoon, they also having a bowl of this sweet soup.
This is very nutritious.  
If you like the crunchy texture of the white fungus, 
then you must not over cook them. 

鲜鱼片干捞面 Gon Lo Mian with Fresh Fish Slices


Yesterday i buy a piece of big fish from the wet market.
I sliced them and cook this gan lao mian for my kids lunch today.

纸手工“蛇” Handmade Paper Snake


I borrow some books from the public library here for my kids.
One of the book is about the "Amphibians and Reptiles".
This is a very colorful and good book. 
In the books there is an activity call Springy Snake.
I try to made this for my kids.

椒盐大虾 Pepper Salt Prawns



When i went to the shop to buy some mushroom, i saw this pack of spice in the rack.
The photo looks delicious, so i buy one to try.
According to the mention of this packing, 600 g prawns for this small pack of pepper salt.
But my prawns is only 500 g and i put 1/3 of the spice.
The taste was just perfect. If i follow the instruction and put whole pack of the spice, 
then this prawns will be too salty.
And overall it is good and tasty.

豆渣戚风蛋糕 Okara Chiffon Cake


Soy bean is a very nutrition food.
After we produce the soy milk, the left okara i keep in the fridge.
Today i am using this okara to make a chiffon cake.
The cake was so soft and very fragrant.

粟米馒头 Sweet Corn Mantou/ Steamed Bun


这两天喜欢上淡淡的黄色糕点。
昨天是淡黄色的牛油发糕,今天是淡黄色的粟米馒头。
淡淡的黄色多么的迷人啊。。。。
This two day likes the yellowish cake.
Yesterday was butter steamed cake, today is sweet corn mantou.
Both are in the lover yellowish color.

This kind of steamed cake is very famous among chinese people.
We also call this Huat Kuih. Why is it got such name? OK.  
When we see this kind of steamed cake the top of this cake burst like a flower.
And this give a good sign where the prosperity is good.

腐皮猪肉卷 Beancurd Meat Roll


I have quite a long time didn't make this Beancurd Roll.
In this version i an using the pork meat for the filling.
I like the fragrant of the meat roll after frying. 
And if you like the soft skin you can have it steamed after you fry.
It is also taste good.

豆芽菜炒鸡丝 Stir-fried Bean Sprout with Chicken


Simple dish. 
Normally when i cook bean sprout i seldom put in any meat.
Today i add in chicken sliced into this because just want my son to have some meat for his dinner.
If not he will just eat only the bean sprout.
My eldest son is a vegetable fancy, he likes to meat vege more than meat.

湿奶油虾 Stir-fried Butter Sauce Prawns


We all love prawns very much. Especially my youngest son.
If he saw prawns on the dining table, he must quickly say i want to eat.
Ask him to have prawns with rice, he will just finish the prawns first,
then asking for more.

西洋菜八宝汤(素) Watercress and Eight-treasure Soup (Meatless)


I like this soup although it is meatless but it is good and sweet.
Love the aromatic from the watercress and mushroom.

Again this is a Nyonya style cuisine. A vey simple and appetizing dish.
If you like assam you must like this.
